Bishop McManus Academy was the dream of our namesake and founder, Bishop Owen McManus. Begun in 1975, the school has been a driving force in Christian education in the Greater New Orleans area. We have been proud to offer individualized curriculum continuously since the school's inception. Bishop McManus has been designated a Model School for years, an elite distinction which highlights the level of acedemia, ongoing staff training and other rigorous standards which meet or exceed current national educational standards.

Bishop McManus Academy is the third incarnation of the school. Originally named Lake Forest Christian School, its name changed to Life Academy when the school moved to its present locaton in 1981, and then later renamed in honor of its chief visionary. Since its founding, the school operated continuously except for the period following Hurricane Katrina. In October 2007, we purchased new facilities at 13123 I -10 Service Rd. Renovation proceeded over the course of the next 1 1/2 years. Bishop McManus Academy moved & has been operating out of its new home since June 1, 2009.
